The Wellbeing Superspreaders will work with a Wellbeing Coach to help them achieve wellbeing goals over the next 12 months.
They will be aiming to infect as many people with this knowledge as possible.
The Wellbeing Superspreaders will also be tasked with recruiting friends and family to complete training in Mental Health First Aid, strengthening the community's ability to support those at risk of mental ill-health.
Meet Dungog's "superspreaders".
Pete "The Supercoach" Maytom
Pete "The Supercoach" Maytom is the true definition of a supercoach.
There are not many people in Dungog who haven't been guided or mentored by Pete Maytom - be it in the pool, on the footy field or perched up at the bar.
Many will also be familiar with his wife Bev, who ran a tight ship at the Dungog pool and now hosts private swimming lessons. Pete's work at the Newsagent keeps him in the heart of the community. His die-hard devotion to rugby league still sees him coaching the Clarence Town women's team and he is a life member of the Dungog Warriors.
But his greatest passion is his family - wife Bev and kids Ellen and Adam and his four grandkids - Levi, Mason, Angus and Patrick.
Katie "The Enthusiast" Darmawan
Katie "The Enthusiast" Darmawan is a born and bred local with family right across the town. She oozes enthusiasm and positivity.
In her role as a Dungog High School learning support officer, Katie has been a driving force behind the recent Push Up for Mental Health Challenge, in support of the Black Dog Institute. Katie's commitment to the community is nothing new - with four children, Kiama, Sunari, Ayana and Jaya, Katie is right in the thick of it - Dungog Public School P&C, netball, junior league, pony club, dance - you name it - Katie is there.
Katie's husband Gussey works with the team at Clarence Town Lovey's Grocers IGA Dungog, and despite a busy schedule, the Darmy Army (as they are known) love spending time together at the river, the beach or connecting in nature.
Brad 'The Lean Machine' Lean
Brad "The Lean Machine" Lean (pronounced Lane) is the sort of person everyone should have in their life. Brad is the first to lend a hand with positivity, enthusiasm and determination. Brad gets the job done.
As an active member of the Dungog Motorcycle Club and the Ride Dungog Track Team, Brad volunteers hours preparing and maintaining trails. On the mower, the whipper snipper or the chainsaw, keeping riders across the community literally on track. Brad was the driving force behind the "Business Card Drop" on the Dungog mountain bike trails and is continually crafting ways to bring people together. If he isn't on a bike (push or motor), he is working as an electrical contractor or spending time with his wife Maggie and daughter Charlee.
Liz 'The Listener' Northam
If you have strolled the shops on Dowling Street, chances are you have met Liz "The Listener" Northam (pictured on the front page).
Liz is right in the thick of the action at her shop The Magpie Dungog. Thoughtful, kind, patient, wise and creative are just a few of the words that get thrown around about Liz.
She previously worked in the office at Dungog Public School, and if you ask any of the school kids, they know Liz as a supportive and thoughtful listener. Liz lives a few kilometres from town with her husband Joe.
As new grandparents they have a busy schedule, but that doesn't stop this dynamic duo from being incredibly community-minded and supportive of anything that will benefit the town.
Lucy 'The Doctor' Miller
If you have ever arrived at the Dungog Veterinary Hospital in a panic, chances are you have been calmed by the steady and pragmatic Lucy "The Doctor" Miller.
As a lover of plants and animals, she is the epitome of a Doctor - treating people, pets and plants with care and compassion and unfazed by a challenge.
You will often find Lucy cruising the Common on her e-bike , with her fit and fast kelpies in tow, or gathering at a local committee meeting with other energetic millennials (or is she Gen Z?). Lucy is an active member of Ride Dungog, the Dead Dog Cafe Running Club.
