The Forbes Magies’ hopes of maintaining a place in the Group 11 top three faces a huge test this weekend and a number of worrying injuries has put more pressure on the defending premiers. Despite beating the Macquarie Raiders last week, the Magpies lost Farren Lamb to a serious concussion after a contentious late hit early the match at Caltex Park. Lamb won’t play on Sunday in the crunch match against second-placed Nyngan while captain-coach Jake Grace will be given right up until Sunday morning to prove his fitness. Grace failed to finish last weekend’s match due to a hip injury and while club president Greg Grogan admitted Grace has been battling the knock, the Magpies leader is determined to take on the Tigers. The Tigers head into the match after a tough 26-16 win over the Narromine Jets last weekend. Nyngan is also battling injuries, with captain-coach Stewart Mills, Reece Goldsmith, Sam Simmonds and Crete Waaka all missing the Jets match.
