Michael Johnsen MP, Member for Upper Hunter recently announced more than $1.3 million in funding for a range of local improvement projects for Crown land reserves and community facilities in the region.
Mr Johnsen said the funding is being provided by the NSW government under its Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.
"It's fantastic to report $1,387,924 million has been secured for regional projects this year under the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund program to maintain and upgrade local reserves as well as facilities located on them," Mr Johnsen said.
"This funding will see infrastructure upgrades to our local community halls, showgrounds, reserves and racecourse as well as maintenance of reserves through noxious weed and pest control."
Minister for Water, Property and Housing Melinda Pavey said the NSW Government is providing $51.7 million from the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund this year to support 705 maintenance and upgrade projects on Crown reserves across the State.
"This year's fund has received a $40 million boost to support communities that have been impacted by bushfires and COVID-19, to fund infrastructure improvements and support jobs for local trades and materials suppliers," Mrs Pavey said.
"Protecting and enhancing Crown land reserves is essential for the well-being of communities and our environment, and to support recreation, tourism, business, and local economies."
Local projects being funded include $29,264 to control weeds on the Dungog Common Recreation Reserve and $354,337 to construct an amenities block on Gresford Park including showers and disabled facilities to support development of a new camping area as part of efforts to boost tourism in the area.
A further $211,894 will be used to construct a new car park with a minimum of 24 car parking spaces that provides a well-lit, secure and safe entry and exit at Paterson pre-school.

- . $192,097 to construct accessible bathroom facilities including eight toilets and eight showers and upgrade the water supply and septic system to service the Merriwa Racecourse and Recreational Reserve.
- . $163,594 to construct a new male toilet block and restore the female toilet block at the Wallabadah Racecourse.
- . $98,111 to upgrade infrastructure and improve accessibility, safety and stock handling at Gloucester Showground.
- . $83,000 to construct a storage shed and purchase a tractor for the Moonan Flat Recreation Reserve.
- . $50,772 to repair stairs, construct a new bridge and install safety railings and signage at Ferntree Gully Reserve.
- . $49,860 to install a ceiling, boost power supplies and conduct general repairs to the Old Tea House on the Gundy Recreation Ground.
- . $33,040 to repair and upgrade the Maison Dieu Mountain Bike Track, repair erosion and create a new and improved accessible front entrance.
- . $29,605 to install a new club house and extend the community common at Moonan Brook Recreation Reserve.
- . $25,754 to upgrade lighting and flooring at the Moonan Flat Soldiers Memorial Hall.
- . $22,100 to control wild dogs in Parish Reserve in the Murray Central Tablelands Local Land Services area.
- . $18,282 to control weeds on vacant Crown Reserves within the Tamworth Crown lands area.
- . $13,583 to control weeds on vacant Tamworth Crown Reserves.
- $12,631 to control significant weeds on Crown land in the Upper Hunter Weeds Authority Area.
