Riverwood Downs has been named the best Eco wedding venue in the annual Bride's Choice Awards.
Nestled at the foot of the world heritage listed Barrington Tops, the venue attracts brides and grooms from near and far.
The day after every wedding at Riverwood Downs, Sally Lyall admits to feeling just a little bit blue.
As the wedding coordinator at the picturesque Monkerai Valley venue, Sally says she develops a friendship with the couples in the lead up to their big day - which she knows ends with the group breakfast the morning after.
Sally is part of the team that helped win the venue the coveted Bride's Choice Award for Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.
Brides across the country are invited to vote for their favourite wedding specialists which they have used in the past 12 months. They can only vote for five businesses and finalists have to accrue a minimum of 20 points.
"We were thrilled to win," said Sally of the award, announced at Merewether Surfhouse earlier this month.
"This was the first year we have been nominated as a finalist and to win on the first year is pretty special.
"The fact the brides have taken the time out of their day after their wedding to nominate us for making their day special."
Riverwood Downs hosts about 20 to 30 weddings each year with couples and their guests attracted as much by the beautiful setting and service as the by the on-site accommodation, making it a weekend destination wedding.
Incidentally, Sally, who is available for brides to Facebook message at any time of day, is yet to plan her own wedding - after being engaged for 10 years.
"I absolutely couldn't have my wedding anywhere else but here, but I can't really event manage my own wedding," she laughed.
