Dungog Shire Relay for Life has bagged both a regional and a state award at the recent Cancer Council summit in Wollongong. The team took home the regional award for community trust and the state award for the highest percentage of carers and survivors taking part.

"We were very happy to be awarded the regional award for Community Trust as this relates to the way we engage with our community, survivors and carers before, during and after relay," said Lyn Moseley from the committee.

"These awards are a big thank you to the community for their support of not only the relay, but all the other events such as the purple and yellow day and the trivia night."

The event held earlier in the year raised more than $35,000 for the Cancer Council.
