Roads and Maritime Services is carrying out the work on Dungog Road which is expected to be completed by late September, weather permitting.
The work will include spray sealing the bridge deck, temporary pier installation, scour work and removal of the site compound.
The bridge deck sealing will be completed first, in one shift on Monday, 25 March, with the remainder of the work starting in April.
There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe. Traffic control and a 40km/h speed limit will be in place during work hours.
Short bridge closures will be required during the delivery of the project.
Motorists should allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time during this work.
Motorists are advised to keep to speed limits, and follow the direction of signs and traffic controllers.
