“I’m delighted to be able to announce we have secured funding of $813,500 to undertake improvements to a number of locally known blackspots on Hinton Road at Osterley, Paterson Road at Duns Creek and On Clarence Town Road just north of Seaham,” Dr Gillespie said.

“These projects are being funded under the Federal Coalition Government’s record infrastructure investment which includes $15,544,897 toward 80 projects in New South Wales under this latest round of blackspot funding.”

The Lyne electorate projects in the Port Stephens Shire include:

·         Hinton Road - 1.2km to 2.8km West of Seaham Road at Osterley: $471,000 to widen shoulder, improve road geometry and curved shoulder, install w-beam barrier on roadside, install new curve and advisory speed signs, upgrade road pavement, install motorcycle protection, clear zone, and vehicle activated signs;

·         Paterson Road, 1.5km North to 1.0km South of Duns Creek Road at Duns Creek: $272,500 to install shoulder improvements, w-beam barrier on roadside, curve alignment markers, and new curve and advisory speed signs;

·         Intersection of Clarence Town Road and Dixon Street to 1.2km North at Seaham: $70,000 to install motorcycle protection, vehicle activated signs, new curve and advisory speed signs;

“The Coalition Government has extended the Black Spot Program and is providing $60 million per year from 2021-22 onwards, building on the current $684.5 million investment from 2013-14 to 2020-21.

“None of these projects would be delivered without the community’s vital input, and I’d encourage all residents and motorists in the region to nominate projects for future funding rounds.”
