Doug the Reading Bug made a welcome return visit to the Dungog Library on Wednesday, July 5 for some holiday reading fun.
More than 30 children and their parents attended, with Librarian Amanda Field saying the character is always a favourite at the library.
Doug is a character the Dungog Shire Community Centre uses to help develop a love of reading in children.
Community support officer at DSCC Ali Martin said Doug makes an appearance at the library every school holidays.
“The pajama story time which involves story time and winter wonderland craft and hot chocolate is a fun time for families to come to the library,” she said.
Doug’s next appearance is scheduled for Book Week in August when he tours local schools, preschools and playgroups in the shire, culminating in a party at the library.
