The eighth annual Dungog Shire Community Christmas Lunch has been hailed a huge success by both organisers and attendees.
In perfect weather more than 80 meals were served to young and old at the Dungog Public School on Christmas Day.
Team Leader Chris Fibbens thanked his team of volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the day and in the lead up to the big event.
“Some were there from 8am, some have been with me since the first lunch back in 2009, but all helped to make the day the success that it is,” he said.
“The event couldn’t be staged without the help of sponsors of the food, gifts, right down to serviettes.
“One of the great things about the day is the atmosphere, the Spirit of Christmas really does shine through and it’s wonderful to see the mix of people who came.
“By 1pm, all tables and chairs were occupied and you couldn’t hear the Christmas music for the laughter and conversations between old friends and new. All in all an amazing day and a real joy to be involved with.”
