This Christmas marks the eighth year that Dungog Shire’s Community Centre has hosted the open-house lunch.
Event Team Leader, Chris Fibbens, said everyone is welcome, there’s no need to book and no questions are asked about your presence.
“Each year many shire residents attend to enjoy the festive atmosphere, a fine meal, a visit from Santa, a small gift, music, and most importantly, good company,” he said.
Mr Fibbens said through the wonderful generosity of sponsors, admission is absolutely free.
“Every year local businesses, service groups, churches and individuals make it possible to hold the luncheon by donating goods and cash.
“The generosity of the town at this time of year is amazing.
“We also have a great team of volunteers who give their day to help visitors enjoy a Christmas with all the trimmings.
“They are all special people, some have been helping each year since 2008, they’re angels really.”
Two of those helpers are 10-year-old Aimee Debbage and her mother Andrea.
“I started bringing Aimee the second year it started to teach her it’s not all about presents and she just loves helping every year,’ said Andrea.
Individuals, couples and family groups are welcome.
“Just turn up, there’s no need to book and if you need help with transport simply contact the Community Centre and I’m sure we can arrange to pick you up and take you home,” said Mr Fibbens.
The day runs from 11.30am until 1.30pm and entrance to the school is using the Chapman Street entrance.
To volunteer or to request transport on the day, phone the Community Centre on 49 921133.
