The Hon Duncan Gay MLC has advised that the NSW Government will provide a specific purpose grant of up to $10 million towards the upgrade of Main Road 101. This road is the road from Dungog-Wirragulla-Hilldale and through to Paterson. This is very welcome news as this road is our access road through to Maitland.

The Hon Duncan Gay and the Hon Michael Johnsen officially opened the new Torryburn Bridge last Monday. Council congratulates all those involved and the Torryburn community. We trust the new bridge will serve them well into the future.
MUMFORD & SONS
Dungog must have been one of their Mumford & Sons’ favourite venues. They performed at the Showground with the Gentlemen of the Road concert in October 2012 and were concerned to learn of the Dungog floods last year. Through their managers, Secret Sounds, they are donating $27,239 to some community projects.
These projects include funding to the Dungog Soccer Club to replace their goalposts which are over 20 years old with fully compliant goalposts that will be safer and able to be moved around the oval. Further funding is to upgrade the lighting for the grounds which will enable the players to train into the evening.
Also benefitting is Dungog Showground with funds to complete the verandah of the new kiosk which is currently being constructed with a grant from Southern Phones. Funds have also been made available for some new seating in Dowling Street.
This support of our town is greatly appreciated.
DUNGOG SCOUTS
On Thursday 25 February, a public meeting at the RSL Club gathered together a group of Shire residents and Scout leaders from the Newcastle and Hunter Region, headed by the Regional Commissioner Steve Fernie, to plan a way to re-establish the Dungog Scout Group. A group of potential member parents and Councillor Neville Bale agreed to join a Strategic Planning Committee to revitalize the Group. This is a very positive move.
The first meeting of the new Committee is tomorrow, Thursday 10 March, at 7pm at the RSL Club. Those interested in training to become leaders and parents of potential youth members are welcome.
