Jamie Allen and Adam Kraski have already raised $9000 leading up to the Mystery Box Rally which is set to start at Airlie Beach, Queensland on August 21.
All the duo know is that the route they will take is a loop, starting and ending at the same place but all other details as to where they will go are a mystery.
"We've got to drive the car from here in Paterson up to far north Queensland, that's 1700 km's. Then we do three and a half thousand kilometres in the outback and then we drive 1700 kilometres home," Mr Allen said.
"It's not a race, it's just 130 groups like Adam and I all raising money for Cancer Council. The target for our group is $1.3 million."

The idea to get behind this cause came after the pair saw Mr Allen's uncle do it in 2023.
However, raising money for Cancer Council has since become a more personal issue for Mr Allen.
"My father-in-law has leukaemia. Hopefully he makes it to the rally but we're not sure about that and my wife has just been diagnosed with cancer - eight weeks ago," he said.
"Adam's had friends and family in his life who have been touched by it and we just looked at each other and thought it's an adventure for a good cause, lets go and have some fun and raise money for some people who need it."
Raising money for a cause that hits so close to home has left Mr Allen with an unique feeling of fulfilment.
"It's pretty cool, it makes me feel good but I'm pretty sure everyone feels the same way," he said.
"It's all good seeing the figure and the updates on how much we've raised so far but I think it will really hit us when we get up to Airlie Beach and there's the other 130 cars there."
The rules for the rally are simple. Teams of two all drive the loop in cars that must be 25 years old or older.
Mr Kraski is looking forward to embarking on this adventure with his friend. He said that he attributes their connection and commitment to each other to how like minded they are.
"I haven't known Jamie all that long but we've got a lot of things in common. It's cool to do this with like minded people," he said.
Leading up to the pair heading to Queensland they have organised a takeover of Dungog Pizza to raise money for their cause, hosting a one-night-only wings and ribs night.
Bookings are essential for the evening on Friday, June 21. For more information or to book contact Dungog Pizza.
