Supported by Rural Aid, the Community Builders Program aims to create community connections between different townships and revitalise them in a way that maintains the rural village lifestyle.
The first workshop is set to take place on Wednesday, May 22 at Dungog's Royal Hotel.
Gresford had previously engaged with the Community Builders Program and the community is now implementing its own action plan with the assistance of Rural Aid. Part of this plan includes setting up an art gallery in the community hall and supporting the Gorgeous Gresford Mural Project.
Rural Aid's Peter Kenyon said that the workshop has three components, a first impressions exercise aimed at leadership development, developing a community action plan and a three-year strategy and then there's an opportunity to apply for funding from Rural Aid to implement part of the community action plan.
"The focus of the program is not the money. The focus of the program is trying to remind people of the strengths and assets in their own community," Mr Kenyon said. "The most important asset in any town is not funding from governments or philanthropic programs it's people and how we engage and connect and discover more about what we have in our town."
