Gasset has brought the confidence flooding back for sixth-placed Marseille since succeeding Gennaro Gattuso in the hotseat on February 20.
Attacking midfielder Iliman Ndiaye put the visitors ahead midway through the first half, scuffing a shot inside the post after Clermont failed to clear a right-wing cross.
The hosts equalised in a similar way early in the second half, when left back Quentin Merlin botched his clearance and Florent Ogier headed the ball to Bilal Boutobba for a close-range finish.
Marseille then took complete control, adding goals from former Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - his ninth in the league - Jonathan Clauss, Luis Henrique and Faris Moumbagna.
A tight game in Reims was settled by a 56th-minute strike from Lille's Canada forward Jonathan David, who intercepted a poor back pass from Yunis Abdelhamid in the 56th minute to grab his 12th league goal of the season.
The win moved fourth-placed Lille one point above Nice - who have a game in hand - and one behind Monaco in third.
