Mr Banasiak was in Dungog last week at the request of Michael Dowling from the "We Need Water, We Need Tillegra Dam" group and spoke to community and business operators about water.
"We know Hunter Water is exploring some new options, we see the potential that a dam can bring to a region in terms of the economy in terms of jobs and tourism," said Mr Banasiak.
"Spending time in Dungog you can see the potential of what such a boost could bring. Dungog could maintain its historical village vibe but have a really a strong, thriving economic community behind it."
Mr Banasiak said the community has had enough of procrastination, particularly from The Nationals debating a water plan.
"Promises, promises promises, platitudes and no actual action," he said.
"People are sick of the inaction and want to see things moving.
"We firmly believe if you are going to look at water security particularly in the current climate, all options should be on the table," he said, adding his party had always supported Tillegra dam and would still support it even in a modified form.
"Whether they are long shots or more certainties, a strong and ambitious government shouldn't leave any stone unturned when it comes to water security."
