In conjunction with National Tree Day and to celebrate Local Government Week, Dungog Shire Council is giving residents the chance to receive a free native tree.
The environmental program will see the council give away 250 native tube stock trees to residents of the Dungog Local Government area.
There is a maximum of three trees per household.
Community groups and schools are also invited to participate with a maximum of 20 trees per group.
Dungog High School is taking part with students helping plant out the natives around the school.
A community morning tea where you can meet the mayor and collect your tree (or a voucher) will be held at the council chambers today (Wednesday, July 31) at 11am.
Trees can be collected from Riverdene Nursey at East Gresford, Clarence Town Post Office or from council's administration building until Saturday, August 3.
All trees are native tube stock. For more information please contact Tracey Lowrey at the council on 49957777.
