It has been a cool start to the swimming season with the October weather not too inviting for those wanting to take a dip.
While the temperature in the second week of the school holidays struggled to get into the 20s, the water temperature was a balmy 24 degrees at Dungog.
Bev Maytom said the Spring school holidays had been a little quieter than usual at the pool due to the cooler – and wet – weather.
“We had some people come and swim in the rain,” she said.
Dungog and Clarence Town pools both opened on October 6.
The sole swimmer at the Dungog pool on Friday was Raffa Francisci from Monkerai getting in some training laps.
Raffa, who is a member of the Stroud Seals Swimming Club, is no stranger to the Dungog pool, having been taught to swim by Bev when he was 18 months old.
Swimming lessons at Dungog pool start on October 22 and inquiries can be made on 4992 1303.
