September 2-8 is Legacy Week - the annual national appeal to raise awareness and funds for the families of incapacitated and deceased Veterans.
Legacy Badge Day is Friday, September 7.
Bob Curtin and Nick Helyer from the Dungog Contact Group of Hunter Legacy are outside Lovey’s IGA in Dowling Street every day this week selling Legacy merchandise.
They will be there from around 8.30am until 3.00pm each day until Saturday.
Along with the Legacy Bears they are selling pens, wrist bands and of course the iconic Legacy badges.
Dungog has 45 Legacy widows and one dependent person.
The funds raised from Legacy Week help Legacy continue to assist approximately 60,000 beneficiaries, with 96% of them being elderly widows throughout Australia, with essential services such as, counselling, special housing, medical, advocacy and social support.
