Turrin and his teammates Josh Hicks, Jack Hargreaves and Alex Hill head to Lucerne (July 7-9) for World Rowing Cup 3 following a comprehensive win at World Rowing Cup 2 in Linz in the early hours of Monday morning (AEST).
Last year’s world champions led their final from start to finish and ended up a full boat length ahead of nearest rivals Romania.
At one point they reached a stroke rate of 50 and it followed up gold for Australia in the women’s fours decider just minutes before.
“That wasn’t our greatest race but it’s a really good starting point,” Hargreaves told Rowing Australia media.
Rio Olympian Turrin, now aged 26, also triumphed in the same event 12 months ago at World Rowing Cup 2 in Poland. The national men’s fours took out World Rowing Cup 3 in Lucerne in 2015 while across six World Rowing Cup regattas in 2013 and 2014, Turrin collected two gold and four silver medals for that race.
