The event at the Dungog Public School was made possible by a community working as one, event team leader Chris Fibbens said.
“It was warming to see new faces, to meet new people while at the same time greeting old friends, some we hadn’t seen for 12 months,” he said.
“This would be the coolest of the nine Christmas lunches we’ve had.
“Pleasingly, the lunch has become a venue for all members of our community and it was wonderful to see family groups, couples and singles all enjoying themselves.”
After the festive lunch a guest donned his accordion and started to play Christmas Carols and Santa visited with a small gift for everyone.
“It was lovely to welcome our Mayor of Dungog Shire Council, Tracy Norman this year,” said Mr Fibbens.
“So now it’s a big ‘thank You’ to a great team of volunteers and a well earned rest for all before planning begins for a special Christmas lunch in 2018, our 10th year.”
The Dungog Shire Community Centre Manager Sarah U’Brien said the the whole Community Christmas Program (hampers, presents and Christmas lunch) costs the Community Centre over $6000 each year.
“This program does not receive any government funding and is solely supported by local donations,’ she said.
“So without the wonderful support from our community and our local business sector more than 200 families and individuals would not have had presents, food or a Christmas lunch.”
