Paterson did enough to secure their first win of the season chasing down a target of 87 against Lakeside Village.
No batsman looked comfortable in the overcast conditions and a wet outfield ensured runs were at a premium.
Stephen Priestley is set to become an A-grade regular if he continues his bowling performance from Saturday, claiming 4-28 and narrowly missing a hat-trick.
Russell Presland is obviously enjoying the captaincy duties claiming his second three-wicket haul to start the season.
He claimed 3-17 as he and Rigby Vane-Wood (2-8) tore through Lakeside’s top order to be at 5/18.
Bradley Brien (13) and James Layton (9) began Lakeside’s fightback and Josh Smith (16) and Duncan Kirby (13 not out) continued it.
However, their tally of 86 never looked enough against a Paterson’s batting line-up featuring Ramsey Vane-Wood, Daniel Agland, Chris Merchant, Rodney Faulkner, Kurt Humphreys and Presland.
However, their were some concerns when an excellent opening spell by Lakeside’s Brien sent openers Vane-Wood and Agland back to the dressing rooms with just eight runs between them.
Brien finished with 2-16, one wicket short of claiming his 200th career wicket.
Paterson’s batsmen made starts but no one dominated the bowling. Faulkner top scored with 18 not out, Merchant and Puxty got 14 each and Adam Hicks was on 10 not out when Paterson reached their target at 5/92 in the 23rd over.
Paterson C-grade’s game against Raymond Terrace ended in a rain-affected draw.
