
Paterson teenager Will Fort has been selected to play for Australia after an outstanding Under 17 National Championships.
Fort, who plays his cricket with Northern Suburbs in the Maitland district competition , opened the batting for ACT/NSW Country and scored 318 runs in his eight at an average of 39.75 to finish fourth in the overall batting aggregate.
His aggregate included two innings of 70, one innings of 63 and another of 59.
NSW Metro won the title beating Queensland in the final. ACT/NSW Country missed out on the semi-finals but had three of NSW’s six players named in the Australian under-17 team.
Fort will be joined by Charlestown all-rounder Glenn Winsor and Dominic O'Shannessy from the Bowral Blues,
The Australia Under 17 team will play in the Under 19 National Championships to be played in Tasmania in December 2017.
There players will come into calculations for the Australia team for the 2018 Under 19 Cricket World Cup.
