The Dungog Dash n Dawdle is happening again this year on Sunday, August 6.
This is the fourth year we have run the event and each year the number of entrants grows.
Last year there were just over 200 runners participating in the three events: 6km Dawdle, 12km dash and the half marathon.
Last year was the first year we also had dogs competing in the three races – which was fantastic to welcome new runners and their owners into the DnD family!
This is the major fundraiser for the Dungog Shire Community Centre.
Each year our centre support over 2000 people living in the Dungog Shire and surrounding area.
We offer a range of support programs and community activities aimed at providing care and assistance to everyone living in our community.
Our Emergency Relief program along with the Community Garden, Fresh Food Fare and our Community Pantry provide practical support to families to ensure that those needing extra assistance at their time of need are supported in a nurturing and dignified way.
We are also passionate about providing exciting, challenging and interesting opportunities to build skill and gain employment in our community through our community college with courses ranging from accredited courses through to vocational courses.
We continue to support our community through its recovery from the April 2015 super storm and are focused on building resilience and preparedness in our community.
Our youth program is dedicated to ensuring our youth are linked to support, have opportunity to enrich their lives through positive relationships. Horse tails has been a wonderful new initiative offering equine therapy to young people and their families to support them building self-confidence, self-belief and positive relationships.
We are the hub of support and opportunity in the shire and we are passionate and dedicated to our community. We need your support to continue the vital work we do. So many of our programs and supports we give to the community are not funded and rely solely on donations and the money raised from our Dash n Dawdle fundraiser. Every cent we raise goes directly back to the community through the programs and supports we offer.
