On a magnificent winter’s morning in Dungog, the Under 7 'Boomerangs' played against Maitland's Hunter Valley Grammar at Barnes Oval.
Evan carved up in defence this week. He blocked a sure HVG goal in the first half and eagerly defended any sign of opposition attack.
Evan also demonstrated some splendid on field kicks, turning the ball back towards our goal on several occasions. Evan went so close to scoring but the HVG defence were all over him. Good work Evan!
Harry S had another top game. When Harry S is on-song, he has a crack at anything whether it's offence or defence!
He demonstrates excellent blocking and ball gathering skill and lands the ball over the line saving goals.
Harry S is fearless in attack pushing the ball forward toward our goal and I'm sure it won't be long before he pops a ball in the back of the net.
Sam played another good game of soccer as well last Saturday. He did some great kicks, and was also involved in defence, making some terrific tackles. Sam is improving all the time and displayed some stunning foot skills to keep ball in the field of play.
Harry H had a much better game again last week and is improving in confidence each week.
He ran speedily with the team and had some good defensive kicks. Harry H has really perfected the sideline kick-ins organising where the ball is heading before the big boot.
Toby had an amazing game last Saturday. He went so close to scoring a brilliant goal a few minutes short of half time.
Toby's attack was fantastic but it was his strong defence that bothered the HVG most on Saturday, tackling and booting like there was no tomorrow.
Toby teamed up with Clarry and then Harry S in the second half showing classy defence stopping two separate HVG goals. Top teamwork boys.
Clarry was again very strong in all areas of the game. After an act of good sportsmanship, helping the opposition due to short numbers (which confused some of his teammates and their parents!)
Clarry returned to the maroon and gold jumper and worked tirelessly in both attack and defence. Great sportsmanship and game Clarry.
Finn produced a few almighty kick-ins and showed some strong on field strikes too. Finn zoned fiercely, getting in front of the opposition players at their kick-in, in an attempt to steal the ball. Super effort Finn.
The boys all tried hard in what can be described as a very good game. Well played boys, and good luck this week.
Saturday's game is at Cessnock at 10am. See you there at 9.30am for a warm up.
