Have you picked up one of the free recycled bags for your shopping lately?
There are 1200 Boomerang Bags in circulation in the Dungog community which aim to cut down the use of plastic bags.
Co-ordinator of Boomerang Bags Dungog, Michelle Dado-Millyn, said volunteers plan to make another 2500 bags to sustain the town.
“People can keep a couple of the bags at home but if they find they have acquired a few more than they need, we encourage them to bring them back to they can be used by others,” she said.
Donations of materials to make the bags are always welcome. Working bees are held at the CWA Hall in Dowling Street with a notice in the window advising of upcoming bees. The next working bee will on Thursday, April 6 from 11am.
The bags are spreading into the Gloucester and Clarence Town areas too.
