A man had a lucky escape from a car fire on Thursday morning.
Dungog Rural Fire Service were called to a motor vehicle fire on Bingleburra Road just after 9am.
A man’s ute had started to smoke, but the “cool-thinking” driver kept going until he found a safe place to pull over. The car fire ignited a small grassed area, fence posts and nearby trees. The RFS managed to extinguish the small fire on arrival at the scene.
“We have him to thank for his good judgment as if he didn't do this we would still be out fighting a huge grass fire in these conditions,” an RFS statement said.
