A total of 24 juniors have signed up for the Tuesday afternoon competition, made up of 12 from Dungog Public School and 12 from Dungog High School.
The children are paired up with one another for play at the Bennett Park complex, and go up or down a court dependent on the result of the game.
However the participants receive a good mix of the competition as they rotate which person they play with each game.
The students are also coached on Friday afternoons as part of the program.
Competition organiser Gail Hannan said the idea of the competition was to improve the players abilities.
“It’s a fantastic competition,” she said.

“I’m hoping the children will get to a standard good enough to play in the night competition.”
This is the first time the competition had run in several years as the club was unable to fill numbers in the past.
