Landowners and land managers in the Lower Hunter are urged to attend a free endangered fauna workshop in Glen Oak on June 18.

The workshop, to be held between 9am and 1.30pm, will feature fauna experts who will speak about the kinds of habitats endangered fauna need, the species people are likely to see in the area and why remnant native vegetation is important for koala pathways.
“Properties in the area might have the right habitat for cryptic and elusive species such as brush-tail Phascogales, Squirrel Gliders, Powerful Owls and Grey-crowned Babblers,” fauna expert Narawan Williams said.
“Weed officers will also be on hand to provide technical advice on weed identification and control,” Charlene Wellard from Port Stephens Councils said.
Hunter Councils secured a grant to from Hunter Region Landcare Network to pay for the workshop, which will be held at Langlands Road and offer people a free barbecue.
