Twelve months on from the devastating superstorm, the Dungog Junior Rugby League Football Club has received $10,000 to replace damaged uniforms and equipment.

The money was presented to club president Lenny Argent and secretary Lindy Hunt on Thursday afternoon by local Holden dealer Graham Turner.
The grant money came from Holden’s Home Ground Advantage program.
To mark the cheque presentation, Newcastle Knights Kade Snowdon, Jaelen Feeney and Lachlan Fitzgibbon and Kangaroo’s assistant coach Michael Hagan were at Bennett Park for a training session with the young Warriors.
At the presentation Mr Turner said the club was a pillar of the community and a very worthy grant recipient.
“The Warriors are instrumental in delivering sporting opportunities and family activities to the community of Dungog and surrounds so it’s great to be able to provide them with this financial boost,” he said.
Club secretary Lindy Hunt said it has been a rough 12 months for the community but the club is recovering and looking forward to a successful season.
“Our club’s finances have really been stretched after two floods in quick succession in April last year and January this year,” she said.
“We are thrilled to be receiving this grant and being able to give our players the gear they need to play.
“Small communities like ours come into themselves at times like those we have experienced over the past 12 months.
“Today is the 12-month anniversary of the natural disaster that Dungog and the district experienced.
“It’s the small things like this afternoon that have helped us to heal.
“We love our footy and are proud of our town. Your generosity is very much appreciated.”
Not only did the club receive a financial boost, the young players were told they have the opportunity to send a team to represent NSW in the first ever Holden Junior State of Origin.
One child from the Dungog Warriors will be selected as the winner of the Origin prize, entitling them to take 10 or his or her teammates along to play a side from the Central Highlands in Queensland.
The prize includes accommodation, meals, training session with rugby league legends on the day prior to the game and then VIP tickets to the main game.
