Guy Edward Russell of Verge Street, Dungog, was charged with mid-range drink-driving, negligent driving and not displaying P-plates when he was apprehended on January 22 this year.
He was seen by police late at night revving his vehicle engine loudly which caused the rear wheels to fishtail across the road on a number of occasions.
The police vehicle was only two cars behind Russell when they watched him fishtail for nearly 50 metres across the road on the third attempt.
Facts presented to the court said police could smell alcohol on his breath when he was pulled over.
His reading was 0.126 which fell in the mid-range category.
When asked about his manner of driving he told police, “Nah, I was just showing off. Sorry.”
In Dungog Local Court on Wednesday, Magistrate Chicken noted that Russell had two more programs to go in the traffic offenders program.
“I won’t complete the matter until the course is completed,” he said.
“He will be disqualified [from driving] – the matter is for how long.”
Russell will return to court on May 11 for sentencing.
