The facility has been proposed as part of the nbn roll out, which is designed to provide access to fast and reliable, fixed wireless services to parts of the communities of Gresford, East Gresford, Lewinsbrook, Summer Hill, Torryburn and Fishers Hill.
Nbn spokesperson Tony Gibbs said they been talking to the local council for a number of years about the nbn network in the region.
“We think it’s important that the community are given a chance to ask questions and provide input,” he said.
“To facilitate this we’ll be holding a community information session next Monday June 1 between 4.30pm and 7.30pm at the School of Arts, East Gresford.
“We’re encouraging people to drop in anytime to ask questions and provide input.
“This is exciting for the residents and businesses in the area as they’re one of the first in the country to begin the process of getting fast and reliable broadband.”
Around 270 homes and businesses in the surrounds of Dungog have had access to fast broadband for more than a year.
“What we’re finding is that prior to the nbn people struggled to complete simple tasks such as internet banking, now they can stream a high definition movie, Skype, do their banking and be on several other devices at once and still experience a fast and reliable service.
“This is really about bridging the digital divide and ensuring everyone has access to a fast and reliable broadband service no matter where they chose to live.
“I’d encourage anyone with questions to drop by and meet the team.”
