A man will faced court today (Thursday) accused of impersonating a police officer and stealing guns from a home in Clarence Town.

According to police two men went to a house on East Seaham Road on October 29, 2014 at about 8.15am.
It is alleged the men claimed to be interstate police officers executing a search warrant and demanded to inspect the owner’s firearms.
During this inspection, the men allegedly stole two revolvers and left a short time later.
As a result of ongoing inquiries by Firearms Squad detectives, on February 25 police arrested a 28-year-old man on George Street, Mayfield in relation to the incident.
He was taken to Newcastle police station and charged with aggravated break and enter, acquire firearm without permit to acquire, impersonate police officer and exercise powers/functions, supply prohibited firearm to unauthorised person.
The Mayfield East man was also charged with making a false representation resulting in police investigation.
He was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on February 26.
