In the second last round of the season the Warriors were able to beat Gloucester 46 - 20.
Playing at Bert Gallagher Oval, the win was made more impressive by the fact that Gloucester is the only team to have beaten Dungog in the competition previously. Dungog's coach Matthew Hinton is happy with how the team performed.
"I was pretty happy, the defence was pretty good," Hinton said.
"We were very physical and you've got to match the other team physically."
There were still some issues that Hinton saw in the Warriors' game but he chalks them up to the team not being able to take the field for training or games for multiple weeks due to weather.
"There were just a few little things going wrong, like dropped balls and even a few penalties given away," Hinton said.
"We're a little bit out of match fitness. We haven't played in a little while."
Some of the younger players stood out for Hinton, including Jack Parish and Blake Cork.
"Cork was unreal. I wanted him to do some of the tough work from our end and he was incredible," Hinton said.
Wyll Darr and Matt Hinton both scored two tries throughout the game. William Rooke, Blake Cork, Luke Rits and Lee Nevin all scored tries as well. Hinton still see's a few creases the Warriors need to iron out in their gameplay before the premiership.
"At this time of year it's just about trying to tweak little things and just squeeze the most out of the lemon," he said.
Hinton still believes that Gloucester pose a threat however the team he is most concerned with is Stroud/Clarence Town.
"If our defence is on and we're defensively minded then I think we can give it a shake," he said.
The Warriors are playing two games this week, the first is a catch up game against Hinton Men's on Tuesday, August 2 at 7pm, playing at Lakeside Sporting Complex. On Saturday, August 6 the Warriors take on Morpeth Men's at Bennett Park for their annual Old Boys Day. Kick off is set for 2pm.
