Although it is a tea party, the event is largely made up of an exhibition where people can submit tea cosies or trivets into to different categories. The competition is heating up according to the Tea Party committee's president Erika Seck.
"I've picked up nine boxes of tea cosies this morning," Ms Seck said.
"We're up to about 100 now, which is pretty good."
Being the second ever Dungog based Tea Party, this is setting the event up for an even bigger year, according to Ms Seck.
"Last time we had about 300, so I'm getting a bit excited now that it's happening," She said.
The tea cosy competition consists of seven categories, The Bottom of my Garden, Sporty, Farmyard Friends, Celebrations, Wild and Wacky, Retro and Treasured Memories for people who have antiques or vintage cosies that don't need to be made by the contestants.
Prizes for these include $500 for the tea cosy of the year, $100 for the winner of each category and $50 for second place. School students from around Dungog have also been invited to submit their tea related artworks or creations that will then be displayed at the Dungog IGA.
However, the goal of the event is to bring people to town and boost local businesses, according to Ms Seck.
"We took it on to bring people to town and hopefully then they'll come back again if we do the event each year," she said.
"They'll shop locally. We've had people that come and stay from Coffs Harbour."
All of the sponsors for the Tea Party are local businesses, according to Ms Seck.
This includes Stella Bistro, the Royal Hotel, Dungog CWA and Dungog Pizza, and many more.
All tea cosy and trivets are due by Sunday, August 14, whereas students artworks are due by Sunday 28, August. Cosies and trivets can be taken to Dungog's Visitor Information Centre or posted to PO Box 99, Dungog. The Tea Party will begin with their opening day on Tuesday, September 6, and will run to Sunday, September 11.
