And with that, the magic of the movies returns to the James Theatre this August.
After many months in the dark the hard working volunteers of the Friends of the James Theatre are ready to bring some exceptional films to the Dungog community.
Starting with a bang this coming Saturday at 7pm with TOP GUN: MAVERICK, the world's highest grossing movie of 2022.
Followed up at 5pm on Sunday with the all Australian story of The Drover's Wife: The Legend of Molly Johnson.
This is a startling reconception of Henry Lawson's famous short story.
With stunning performances and heart-stopping scenery, it is set to become an Australian classic.
The volunteers of the Friends of the James Theatre put on shows that would otherwise not be available in Dungog and raise funds to maintain the historic James Theatre.
They also help other community groups who hire the theatre such as the Dungog Shire Community Centre that is putting on a free Family film and afternoon tea 2pm on Sunday, August 21 to celebrate turning 40.
The film will be the heartwarming Australian underdog tale of Oddball.
The Friends are planning to run films on a fortnightly basis with a mix of the best films available on current release including arthouse and children's film and some special treats like the popular AGOG festival of foreign films returning later in the year.
