After a rough loss to Gloucester in a wet weather game, Dungog managed to secure a convincing win with a 50 - 4 victory.
Coach/Captain, Matt Hinton said he was glad to see his team make a recovery after their first loss of the season.
"It was a good bounce back. They're a top four team, it was good for us to bounce back from that little hiccup against Gloucester and keep the wheels turning," Hinton said.
He attributed the big score line to a renewed drive following last week's defeat, as well as the weaknesses it highlighted.
According to the coach, he didn't see a bad player on the field.
"I was happy with how we defended, we only let one try in and that was off a kick so it was a very good ticket," Hinton said.
"Our on-line defence and defence in general was really good. Our defence was probably the highlight for me."
Focusing on their defence has paid off for the Warriors, as the tries are beginning to come from supporting each other and focusing on the little things in the attack, according to Hinton.
Stand out performances included Dungog's Lock, Jack Parrish, who played his better game.
"He does all the little things right. He got players' player so his peers obviously thought he went really well as well," Hinton said.
Hinton also singled out first cousins Callum and Joseph Hooke, who played off of the bench.
"Especially coming off the bench, the two Hooke boys bought energy off the bench. I thought Callum was outstanding in defence," Hinton said.
Beating Hinton Men's kept Dungog on the top of the ladder, closely followed by Gloucester. .
With Hinton at the helm as both coach and captain the team is now setting their sights on the major premiers.
"No one remembers the minor premiers, its the major premiers that people will remember. So we're gonna keep working towards being a team that we think can win the comp," Hinton said.
"I'm not worrying about where we sit in the ladder."
Going into the second rotation of the comp, Dungog are coming up against Raymond Terrace for the second time after beating them 12 - 4 in round three.
Hinton still sees ways that Dungog can improve going into the game though.
"They were pretty strong physically. We've got to right our wrongs there. Defend well and match physically and see how we go," he said.
Kick off is set for 2pm on Sunday, June 26 and Dungog are geared to have the home advantage, playing out of Bennett Park.
