What's on: Your guide to what's happening around Dungog shire

A contemporary art exhibition showcasing the talents of a group of artists who have graduated from the Newcastle Art School.

June 25: CWA Hall, 199 Dowling Street, Dungog. Time: 8.30am-12pm.

Find fresh produce grown by local farmers, market gardeners and backyard growers. Held every Saturday morning in the CWA Hall.

June 25: Royal Hotel Dungog. Time: 6.30pm. Cost: $25.

Chef Marco Schmutz will bring a taste of Thailand to Dungog for the Royal's Curry Night. Marco worked for many years in high-end restaurants in Australia and Europe. More recently Marco has worked at the Cooks Shed in the Hawkesbury and has now set his roots down in Newcastle. Tickets: dungogroyalhotel.com.au.

July 9: Stroud Showground, Cowper Street, Stroud. Time: 7am. Cost: $10, adult, $5 child, $25 family.

Watch men bowl a brick, women launch rolling pins and kids catapult rubber chooks at the Stroud Brick and Rolling Pin Competition. The parade will go through town at 10am. Competition registrations open at 11am. The showground will be bursting with markets, craft and food stalls, activities and entertainment for every family member. Gates open at 7am and events get underway at 10am. Ticket sales at the gate only.

July 23-24: Riverwood Downs, 311 Upper Monkerai Road, Monkerai. Cost: $65-$118.

Dirty Detour is an adventure inspired gravel biking weekend. It is ideal for a family weekend escape in the Monkerai Valley, in the foothills of the Barrington Tops, but is topped off with a 20km, 50km or 90km bike ride from Riverwood Downs in Monkerai.
