Riding at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Dungog resident Oscar Leake is riding in the New South Wales team. Gresford resident Lachlan Richardson will also be riding.
Modelling itself after the Rugby League competition of the same name, the third and final showdown is a tie breaker to determine which state will take home the PBR Monster Energy Tour Origin Series.
Queensland took home the trophy from the first show in Newcastle, but the NSW side was able to pull off a victory in Tamworth earlier this year, bringing the competition to a tie between the teams.
Cody Heffernan is the Team NSW captain and is keen for the teams to go head to head again coming off the back of the win in Tamworth.
"We proved that we can beat Team Queensland, so without a doubt we can go to Brisbane and beat them," Heffernan said.
"After the loss in Newcastle, I think the boys are really excited to have come back from Tamworth and put on a real good show, ride some bulls and take it to Brisbane."
Despite NSW's win in Tamworth, Queensland has dominated the dirt in the past with Team Queensland already having two Origin victories under their belt.
Team Queensland's captain and four-time reigning PBR Australia champion Aaron Kleier is looking to leverage the home ground advantage to secure this years competition.
"I am looking forward to riding as a team with the Queensland boys and representing our state with them. Putting on that maroon jersey is truly an honour," says Mr Kleier,
"With bull riding being such an individual sport, it is good to get the chance to ride together as a team. It just has an exciting and different feel to any other event."
On top of the opportunity to represent their state, riders also have a unique opportunity to add points to their Australian national standing and broader world standing.
More specifically, the points up for grabs will play a crucial role in determining who qualifies for the PBR Monster Energy Tour Grand Finals, according to PBR Australia General Manager Glen Young.
"The PBR Monster Energy Tour Grand Finals is the richest bull riding event in the entire southern hemisphere. The best rider of the series gets a $7,500 bonus and this year's Australian Champion will receive a $50,000 year-end bonus," Young said.
With an opportunity like the PBR Monster Energy Tour Grand Finals on the line, the riders have been training hard and preparing for a big show, according to Young.
"Both Team Queensland and Team New South Wales have performed very strongly in the first two rounds, so there is no doubt that this weekend will be a nail-biting event," Young said.
"The PBR Monster Energy Tour Origin Series Championship winner is the team with the highest combined score in the event aggregate. We couldn't think of a better place to host the final state vs. state bull riding showdown."
