The lifelong Dungog resident played for the Warriors from his junior years through to the all ages team, after which he went to play in Clarence Town for a brief stint before returning to the Warriors.
Hinton always wanted to play for the Warriors All Age team.
"As a kid I grew with both my brothers playing for All Age team in Dungog and I followed them around as a kid. I watched a lot of great guys play football for Dungog," Hinton said.
"All I ever wanted to do was play for Dungog I think. I didn't really have any ambitions of playing NRL like other kids."
In his 150 games, Hinton has plenty of highlights and stories to tell.
In particular, playing in 2010 at 20 years old under the coach Dave Henderson, Hinton and the Warriors managed to win the competition only losing one game.
"To me, 2010 probably can't be eclipsed. I had my first child then and he was at the grand final," Hinton said.
Hinton managed to play with two of his older brothers in that years grandfinal as well.
A close second for Hinton was in 2017, when Dungog only fielded a B-Grade team, finishing second or third, Hinton believes they could have gone further.
"That was probably the best Dungog footy team I've ever played for to be honest," Hinton said.
More recently, Hinton is the Coach and Captain of the Dungog Warriors All Ages team.
"I've learnt a lot about myself as a person, as a player and as a coach," Hinton said.
Starting as coach and captain in 2020, Hinton started very critical on the team.
"I was probably a bit to emotional at times, gave a few too many sprays here and there. I was a little bit critical of everything really," Hinton said.
But like any good coach, Hinton learnt from his experience in 2020 and came into his own in the 2021 competition.
"2021 was a highlight and I hope this year I'm a better coach again," Hinton said.
Hinton has enjoyed every season with the Warriors, in particular he likes the atmosphere at the home games.
"Every time I play at Bennett Park, it's a goosebumps sort of feel. Teams hate coming to play at Dungog because of that reason, we've got a good supporter base," Hinton said.
Hinton and the All Age team were supposed to celebrate his 150th game at their home ground Bennett Park on Saturday, May 14, however the game was postponed due to wet weather.
Instead, Hinton and the team are geared to celebrate his 150th game at Paterson Sportsground when Dungog takes on Paterson at 2pm on Saturday, May 21.
Hinton also wants to say how grateful he is to the club for having him for all the years he's played.
