Coronavirus update: Wednesday, September 29

NSW recorded 863 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, Tuesday September 28.

Three new cases were acquired overseas, and seven previously reported cases have been excluded following further investigation.

The total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic is 61,231.

NSW Health today reported the deaths of fifteen people with COVID-19 - eight men and seven women. Two people were in their 40s, two were in their 50s, four people were in their 60s, three people were in their 70s, one in their 80s, and three people were in their 90s.

One person had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, five people had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and nine people were not vaccinated.

There are currently 1,082 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 212 people in intensive care, 108 of whom require ventilation.

There were 120,281 COVID-19 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day's total of 132,279.

Today it was announced that from 11 Oct, two visitors per day aged 12 years and over will be permitted to visit an aged care facility if they are fully vaccinated.

NSW Health administered 26,002 COVID-19 vaccines in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

Across NSW, 86.2 per cent of the over-16 population has received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 61.7 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11.59pm on Monday 27 September 2021.

The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 9,867,485 with 3,517,837 doses administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 6,349,648 administered by the GP network and other providers to 11.59pm on Monday 27 September 2021.
