The Dungog mother of two says it has definitely been a "transitional period" to get used to her new "do" after she took part in the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave.
Not only did she donate her long locks to the charity to be made into wigs for patients undergoing treatment who may have suffered hair loss, she also raised much-needed funds for the foundation. She more than doubled her goal of $1000 with $2027.75 raised by the time her long locks hit the hairdresser's floor.
"I was very surprised we got as far as we did. It's nice to know what a small little town can do when we all come together," she said.
While many people who take part in the Greatest Shave have a close personal connection to the illness, Kimberly just wanted to make a difference.
"All the other cancers seem to have so much going on where you can go into a store and buy merchandise and it just seems like leukemia, which affects so many people doesn't, and I thought why isn't there more help? I can't donate as much money as I would like to charity but I had hair and I could donate that.
"If that's going to bring a smile to some little boy or girl's face to make them feel less embarrassed then why not."
Her husband Johnathan has been "a typical supportive husband" but she laughs it took her youngest daughter a couple of days to get used to her mum's new look.
"I might be cold but I think of people whose hair won't grow back as fast as mine."
