All residents living within the Dungog Shire, who are enrolled to vote, are required to attend a voting centre as part of this Saturday's Upper Hunter by-election.

Voting centres will open at 8am on Saturday, May 22 and close at 6pm sharp.
There are 38 places to vote across the Upper Hunter electorate, which stretches to Quirindi in the north and Singleton in the south.
In the Dungog Shire there are a few places to cast your vote. They are:
- Clarence Town Public School, Marshall Street, Clarence Town
- Dungog Public School, 9 Chapman Street, Dungog
- Gresford School Of Arts, 42 Park Street, East Gresford
- Paterson Public School, Webbers Creek Road, Paterson
- Vacy School of Arts Hall, 779 Gresford Road, Vacy.
There are also voting centres in other areas around the shire. These include:
- Stroud Public School, Erin Street, Stroud
- Stroud Road Public School, Bucketts Way, Stroud Road

The by-election was sparked after Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen quit politics, following allegations that he raped a sex worker. A police investigation regarding this matter is ongoing.
Mr Johnsen was a member of the NSW National Party at the time. He won the seat in 2015, taking over from long-time Upper Hunter MP George Souris who had held the seat since 1988.
