The event is the society's biggest fundraiser and like so many events in the shire, it was cancelled last year due to Covid-19. But the society's president Toby Solomon said this year's exhibition promises to be "spectacular" with sponsorship money already being pledged.
Around $6000 in prizemoney is the target for the society to offer the artists from Sydney to Queensland who enter the competition.
Judge this year is Elissa Emerson, the director of Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre.
Opening night is on Friday, October 1 at the Dungog RSL Club.
The works will be on exhibition at the club for 10 days.
Entry forms will be available via the society's website in coming months.
