Dungog and District Neighbourcare has a variety of volunteer positions available with flexible days and hours.
Neighbourcare's Transport Co-Ordinator Debra Redman said volunteer drivers are needed in the Dungog, Gresford and Clarence Town areas.
"We are happy for people to give us two hours one day a month, any time they can," she said.
"It's mostly assisting people with transport to medical appointments, with shopping and social outings."
Trips will be in and around Dungog and district, Maitland, Newcastle, Raymond Terrace, Singleton, Cessnock and Kurri Kurri.
Volunteers can use Neighbourcare's vehicles or if you use your own vehicle (which must be comprehensively insured) you will be reimbursed for your out of pocket expenses.
You will need a safe driving record, health assessment, working with children check and NSW police check - all which Neighbourcare can help you obtain.
The shopping bus trip to Raymond Terrace and Maitland on alternate weeks has also just re-started after being cancelled due to Covid-19.
The seven passengers are all socially distanced and a bus assistant is needed.
All the passengers are able bodied; the role just requires the assistant to take people's temperature before getting on the bus.
Meals on Wheels is always looking for volunteers to help in the kitchen or delivering meals and the laundry which operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays also needs volunteers.
"The nice thing is volunteering is actually a social thing where you get to meet new people," said Mrs Redman.
"There's nothing nicer than helping someone."
Neighbourcare has been supporting older people and people living with disability in their community since 1994 through services such as Meals on Wheels, Transport, Home Care Packages, NDIS support and more.
