As 2019 drew to a close, it looked like the Paterson River Rugby League Club would not be on the paddock for the 2020 season.

The annual general meeting in December failed to see a committee formed.
Thankfully, the second attempt saw more than 20 people roll up to the Paterson Tavern last month in support of the club.
Not only did they show up - but they put their hands up.
David Priestley took on the role as Club President and all other roles were filled too.
Except that of coach.
As the start of the season in April looms, time is running out.
"We've put a deadline of Saturday, February 15 to find a coach," said Priestley.
"If we don't we will put the club in a holding pattern and plan for next year.
"We would hope to get someone from the local area but anyone with the credentials is welcome to apply to coach or be a player/coach," said Priestley.
As far as the team roster goes, its first things first with finding the coach the priority.
There's 10 players maintaining their training and Priestley is confident numbers will grow once a coach comes on board.
"My hope is to get a lot more young blokes coming on board to play," he said.
"There's some of our key players from last year ready to go round again."
This includes captain coach Rhyan "Winks" Winkler, with Matt Garland, the other captain coach, retiring.
Priestley has a pretty busy work schedule - managing two branches of Chesterfield Australia - but knew he couldn't let his old club down.
He says his playing days are well past him, having played with the club in its first few years up until 1988 when he left the area for 30 odd years.
He returned to the area a few years ago and was happy to put his hand up for president when he knew he had the support of so many others keen to work for the club.
"I've always had a passion for the club, I've had a lot of mates that have played for the club and been involved, I didn't want it to fade," he said.
"Everyone put their hands up to take on jobs from the set up and take down, the canteen, all the roles.
"Everyone is so enthusiastic."
The club hopes to field a Ladies League team in the 2021 season.
