During the facility's recent renovations a plaque was slightly damaged so a new one was recently unveiled in a special morning tea ceremony with residents, staff and the advisory committee.

Previous Chairman of the Board at Lara Ray Neilson unveiled the new plaque, giving a brief history of the initial concept and resolve shown to start the project.

The words on the plaque remain:

"In recognition of the vision, resolve and generosity shown by the Residents and Organisations of the Shire of Dungog in ensuring that Lara Aged Care became a reality 1978 - 1990, Raymond Neilson, Chairman of Dungog District Retirement Living."
