Students from six of the feeder schools to Dungog High School took part in the competition on Monday, November 4

The students could speak on a subject of their choice but it had to relate to at least one of the principals of the Rotary four way test:

1. Is it the truth?

2. Is it fair to all concerned?

3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

With topics ranging from world affairs to single use plastic free Dungog, all nine speakers covered their topics very well with convincing argument and passion for their chosen subject, said John Walton from Rotary.

"All the speakers acquitted themselves very well giving the judges a tough job deciding the winner," said Mr Walton.

"Congratulations must go to the winner Sienna Spiller from Booral Public School who took home a cheque for $300 for her school and also a cheque for $50 for herself."

The adjudicators were Janene McIntosh (Principal of Dungog High) Kate Murphy (local business woman and shire councillor) Tracy Norman (business woman and mayor of Dungog) and Allan Mitchell (local solicitor and Rotarian).

The speakers and their schools were: Jack Pummel ( Martins Creek) Sienna Spiller (Booral) Bella Coleman(Booral) Chloe Flannery (Clarence Town) Lillian U'Brien (Dungog) Bennett McCumstie (Seaham) Brittany Elliss ( Stroud Road) Isabella Martin ( Dungog) and Allie Muddle ( Booral)

"The Rotary Club of Dungog would like to thank all the speakers, their parents, schools and supporters for attending this wonderful night," said Mr Walton.

"A special thank you to our guest emcees for the night, Ben Stewart and Nicholas (Nic) Beitzel who kept the night running smoothly.

"A very special thanks also to the teachers and students from the hospitality class of Dungog High school for the wonderful meal they provided which made $1000 for the school."
