Scottish-born Barry Maitland (who lives in Maitland) is one of the country's finest crime writers, with nearly three decades since the debut of his first novel.
'The Promised Land' is Maitland's latest book and part of the acclaimed Brock and Kolla series which brings newly promoted Detective Chief Inspector Cathy Kolla and recently retired David Brock back together for another enthralling mystery.
He also wrote the the Belltree trilogy, set in the Hunter Region.

In November, the library will have a talk by a local woman, Susan Lee, on walking the world famous Camino trail through France and Spain. December's offering is Todd Alexander and his book on his hilarious adventures of buying a winery in the Hunter Valley titled "Thirty Thousand Bottles of Wine and a pig called Helga".
