TaKeTiNa is a practice of allowing deep immersion into rhythm through stepping, clapping and singing.

On one hand it is movement and on the other it's meditation which Brenda Williams, who is helping bring the workshop to town, agrees is hard to describe.

TaKeTiNa was first developed in 1970 by Austrian musician and composer Reinhard Flatischler.

The practice is offered in open workshops, used in university music departments, by sports people, in therapeutic practices, in drama schools, in pain therapy, and in the corporate sector for stressed executives.

"The whole effect of the workshop is that one loses the intellectual idea of keeping rhythm and learns just to let it go and become part of the flow of the rhythm," said Brenda.

"They say at the deepest level it turns chaos into order.

"You drop in and out of rhythm throughout the workshop. The healing comes when you come back in. Somehow the brain just loves the fact it goes though chaos then order."

Anne Marie Wilshire is the facilitator for the workshop which will be held at the Anglican Church Church Hall Dungog on November 8, 9 and 10.
