The funds will be used to fill and top dress the main ring and come from the Community Recovery Fund which is jointly funded by the federal and state governments.
Federal member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie and state member for Upper Hunter, Michael Johnsen, met with council and showground committee representatives at the weekend.
"This $125,000 of funding will help ensure this vital asset in the community can be restored to its former glory," said Dr Gillespie.
Mr Johnsen said that thanks to the efforts of local volunteers and funding from generous community donors, some restoration work was completed to the showground, allowing it to operate for some events.
"This funding from the Commonwealth and NSW Governments will see the showground restored to its pre disaster condition, and allow the full range of events to again be held there," he said.
Federal Minister for Natural Disaster and Emergency Management David Littleproud said that supporting the recovery of communities long after a disaster event continues to be a priority for all levels of government.
"These storms caused significant disruption and damage to community infrastructure, with the Dungog Shire Council one of the worse affected areas," Minister Littleproud said.
